A Court of Thorns and Roses is a romantasy series set in Prythian, a hidden world of Fae courts separated from the human lands by a vast, ancient wall. The first three books follow Feyre Archeron, a human huntress who kills a Fae wolf in the woods and is taken to the Spring Court as punishment — and who, by the end of the trilogy, has become something far more than human. The fourth book is a short interlude, and the fifth follows Feyre’s oldest sister, Nesta, in a standalone arc that expands the Night Court and its surrounding world significantly. Two further books arrive in late 2026 and early 2027, continuing a new four-part story that Maas has said will eventually span a third additional volume. The series is the defining entry point into the Maasverse and one of the most widely read romantasy series in the world, responsible for a significant share of BookTok’s growth as a book discovery space.
Sarah J. Maas is a New York-born author who made her publishing debut in 2012 with Throne of Glass. A Court of Thorns and Roses followed in 2015, published by Bloomsbury.
